Getting To Know: The Mars Volta

To celebrate 100 followers, I'm going to give you a little profile on the band that inspired my name (Courtesy of the members of Sputnik Music.)

Formed in 2001 after the demise of the Post Hardcore whirlwind At The Drive-In by ex-members Cedric Bixler (vocals) and Omar Rodriguez (guitar), who then recruited Juan Alderete on bass, Ikey Owens on keyboard, and Jon Theodore on drums, as well as Jeremy Ward, who contributed sound effects. Whilst other ex-members of At The Drive-In continued on the path of the former band with Punk/Emo group Sparta, The Mars Volta expanded their sonic pallette, often venturing into extended free jazz and psychedelic jamming throughout their songs.

Cheers guys!
